Added a ‘provider_references’ Field to the ‘Expenses’ Resource in the SightMap REST API.

What’s changing?

We’ve introduced a new ‘provider_references’ object field to the SightMap Expenses schema. This enhancement allows API consumers to store and retrieve third-party reference IDs for individual expenses directly within the SightMap REST API. This update went live in January 2026.

What to expect:

API consumers can now associate SightMap expenses with external system identifiers, using structured key/value pairs.

The ‘provider_references’ field is fully supported across all Expenses endpoints. Consumers can view, add, edit, and remove references as part of their existing expense workflows.

What do you need to do?

No action is required. This update has been automatically applied to the SightMap REST API. Consumers can begin using the new ‘provider_references’ object immediately when creating or updating expenses via the API.
