Added an ‘is_situational’ Field to the ‘Expenses’ Resource in the SightMap REST API.

What’s changing?

We’ve added a new “situational” expense flag to SightMap API that allows fees to be explicitly marked as ‘situational’. Expenses marked as situational are automatically hidden from the ‘Calculator Modal’ on the SightMap front end and are not included in the All-In Pricing calculations. This update went live in December 2025.

What to expect:

This enhancement gives property teams and API consumers a clear, consistent way to distinguish situational fees. Such as damage-related or move-out charges, compared to non-situational fees like standard or recurring expenses. By excluding situational fees from calculator totals, SightMap ensures prospects see accurate, reliable pricing while still allowing teams to manage and track these fees behind the scenes. This also improves compatibility with partners and downstream platforms that require precise handling of situational fee logic.

What do you need to do?

No action is required. This update has been automatically applied to all SightMaps and API endpoints. If you’d like to use this feature, you can mark expenses as situational via the SightMap REST API. Existing calculator behavior will remain unchanged unless expenses are explicitly marked as situational.
